As proposed by Damola Morenikeji, this page documents my use of generative AI. It is a canonical document and will be updated to reflect any changes to my attitude.

I utilise LLMs in my IT work. Being able to quickly parse large quantities of log output or enormous documentation pages is invaluable, and I do find myself using LLMs for this purpose. For a time I ran a lot of coding problems through an LLM if I had gotten stuck, but I am doing my best to stop that. As Eric Wastl puts it: you wouldn't expect to get stronger by sending someone else to work out at the gym.

None of the creative output of this blog has been put through an LLM, and nor will it. Typos, grammatical errors, enormous run-on sentences, and all my other, very human literary foibles are here for the world to see.

None of the music I write sees contact with an LLM during the jamming, writing, editing, recording, or releasing processes. I cannot speak as to what bots might happen upon my work after the work is out in the world.

I do not believe that AI is a net evil, but I do worry about its impact on humans' abilities to think and act for themselves. These are the rules I am applying to protect my mind from LLM-derived atrophy:
